Saturday Night Mind Dump…

  • Tonight was one of those nights
  • My whole head and body ached because of my allergies
  • I thought that I might pass out a few times while I was preaching
  • Yet
  • God did unbelievable things tonight
  • Love how that happens
  • The week after Easter is always nerve wracking for a pastor
  • But I am blown away every week by how God is moving at Revolution
  • God keeps sending us people, people keep bringing people
  • I love the passion of our church to fulfill the mission God has called us to
  • Tonight was a reminder for me as to why I love preaching through books of the Bible
  • I preached on prayer and how we are to pray
  • I would never have chosen Nehemiah 9 to make that point, but there is so much in that passage
  • Love how God’s word is alive, how it enters our lives and speaks to us
  • If you missed tonight, you can listen to it here
  • Had a Revolutionary tell me this week that one of his friends accepted Jesus on Saturday. He said it was the first time he was part of affecting someone’s eternity.
  • How cool is that?
  • Katie and I started an adoption blog so that you can stay updated on what is happening and how to pray for us in the process
  • If you are interested in following along check out http://reichadoption.wordpress.com/
  • Right now I’m reading Church 3.0 (when I told Katie she asked if I read 1.0 and 2.0, not funny I told her)
  • Anyway, it is definitely interesting
  • It is about what existing churches can learn from the house church movement
  • While it is interesting and causing me to think, it is also making me mad when the author creates straw man arguments to show how house churches are right and everything else isn’t Biblical
  • Which is false because you have to throw out a lot of the New Testament and say it isn’t accurate to be able to do that
  • For example, he says that preaching and leadership are not for churches today, doesn’t have any passages in the Bible to back up his point, but he also doesn’t talk about the passages that would say he is wrong
  • Ironically, lots of people do that to make the Bible say what they want it to
  • But I’ll wait for my review to share it all
  • I want to give it a fair shake before I go off about it
  • One of my mentors told me that is what makes a good leader, “they can loving disagree with someone in a Starbucks and still learn from them”
  • Katie and I celebrated 8 years this past week
  • I am still blown away that she said yes to marrying me
  • Here are some pictures from our big day last week, in case you missed it
  • We rolled The City out to our church tonight, if you didn’t get to sign up at church, you can do so here
  • I’m excited to see how this helps to connect our church in a greater way
  • If you have any questions about it, feel free to contact Christe LePeau
  • One of the blogs I follow, Anne Jackson, is in Russia raising awareness about sex trafficking
  • She is writing some horrifying stuff, crazy that this happens in our world
  • Check out her posts here (these are definitely worth reading)
  • I have my coaching network this week
  • Always get a lot out of this time with other leaders
  • We have our next baby/child dedication next Saturday
  • If you are interested in participating, email Jennifer Ingram
  • We also have our next newcomer’s brunch next Sunday
  • So much happening right now
  • If you are new to Revolution and want to spend some time with our leaders, ask them questions and hear about where we are heading as a church and what makes us tick, send an email to Christe LePeau telling her that you would like to sign up
  • I’m starting to work on the series coming up after Nehemiah
  • It’s called The Perfect Kid
  • We’ll look not only at parenting and family, but also what it means to be a child of God
  • I think it is going to be awesome
  • Next week I’m talking about how change happens and how God changes people
  • If you have ever felt like you are stuck, it will be a night worth checking out
  • I am blown away by how God is moving at Revolution right now and growing our church
  • Revolutionaries, this does not happen everywhere and it is not something we have done
  • We are just being faithful and following God
  • Let’s keep it up
